Abrie Beeslaar has been the winemaker at the world famous Kanonkop estate since 2002 and he is now making a small amount of his own, very special, single vineyard Pinotage. With a succession of fabulous Kanonkop wines behind him and the accolade of 2008 International Winemaker of the Year, Abrie's pedigree is first class and for him to put his own name on this wine shows how important this is to him.

Only released in exceptional vintages, this Pinot is produced from a single vineyard on the Polkadraai Hills. This is the third release and possibly the best yet. The nose seduces you with its luxurious berry and spice combination, exuberant forward charm and supporting opulent fruit. The palate opens with a savoury hint of earthy porcini which is joined by spicy oak, cherry and tobacco following through. A wine for special occasions, this deserves a place in any collector's cellar.

The Sadies' outstanding white blend mixes Chenin Blanc with Roussanne, Clairette Blanche and Viognier from a dozen different vineyards, using more Roussanne than in 2013. Old oak, full malolactic and layer upon layer of complex flavours distinguish the wine, with baking spices, apple pie, stone fruit, honey and a core of chiselled acidity. 95 pts - Tim Atkin.

Chenin Blanc , Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette Blanche and Sémillon come together, from twelve different vineyards up to 50 years old, to form one of the Swartland's finest white blends. 17/20 - Jancis Robinson.

Eagles' Nest, located on the crest of Constantia Nek pass, is nestled at the foot of the awe inspiring Table Mountain. This boutique, family-owned vineyard has, in recent years gained a striking reputation for both its beauty and award winning wines including 5 stars from Platter's.
A cool climate Shiraz giving a pepper toned nose complemented with black cherry fruit, subtle violets and hints of rich cured meat. On the palate these aromas materialise with crushed pepper and black berry fruits remaining the driving force. Soft, integrated tannins and a structured mid-palate follow through to a long, elegant and satisfying finish.

Fans of Uva Mira Chardonnay, the wine that launched Vincisive, will be delighted to know that the maker of that fabulous wine has now ventured out on his own with just 3 barrels of a world class Chardonnay. With fruit from the Helderberg and Elgin, Matthew has yet again demonstrated the talent that won him the young winemaker of the year award in 2011. This is a sensational re-introduction to Matthew's style. Achieving Platter's maximum 5 star rating with a debut wine is a massive accomplishment and we are delighted to have Matthew back in our portfolio.

Matthew's debut release of this wine was nothing short of sensational and we're delighted that he's followed it up with another superb Chardonnay. In his trademark style, the oak is used superlatively in full harmony with the great fruit that Matthew has managed to source. Built to age but so, so approachable in its youth, we just can't get enough of this wine!

The Mullineux have been making wine with this fruit since 2004 - it used to go into one of the reds at Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards - and you can see why they rate it so highly. Floral, structured and pepper spicy, with a thrilling core of minerality, this Syrah is effortlessly complex and set for a long life in bottle. Beautifully focused. Drink: 2015-25

Chenin Blanc based white blends from the Swartland are fast becoming an outstanding category, due in no small part to the excellence of winemakers such as the Mullineux family and their consistently outperforming wines. The Chenin Blanc content has been increased slightly again this year to 80% with Clairette offering 13% to the blend and the balance from Viognier, which gives it a gorgeous floral lift.

From the finely structured decomposed granite and clay soils of the Domaine in Hemel-en-Aarde. Pure and precise characters of fragrant cherries, currants, earthiness, and spice. The perfume and silky smooth tannins are complemented by depth provided by the red clay deeper in the soil. The emphasis is on fragrance, reconciling power with grace, and is quite a diverse expression from the substance and muscle of the wines Newton Johnson make from Elgin. With several years of consecutive Platter 5 star ratings this wine is developing a superb track record of delivering consistent quality at a level that should make Burgundy sit up and take notice.
Always one of my favourites, the release of this wine is hotly anticipated every year and it has always surpassed expectations. This is some of the best Pinot Noir you will find outside Burgundy.
Made up of mostly Windansea, with 25% each of Seadragon and Mrs M, this "expresses all of the soils of the farm", according to Gordon Newton Johnson, and is a superb Pinot. Leafy, complex and spicy, with evident whole bunch flavours, fine tannins and a sweet finish. 2018-28.

Comprised of grapes from 3 vineyard sites within the farm, with each block having a widely varied exposure to the sun, this is a compelling Chardonnay from the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde valley. Elegant and complex with a steely acidity forming the core of a wine that offers mouth-watering citrus flavours with some sweet spice framed by judicious oak. Give this a couple of years and it will rock!

Another personal favourite amongst the many outstanding Chardonnays emanating from South Africa. The consistency of Newton Johnson's Family Chardonnay over the last decade is building their reputation for reliable and exemplary winemaking.
Marrying grapes from north- and south-facing slopes allows the Newton Johnsons to produce a more complete wine, with power balanced by freshness. This is leesy, waxy and refined, with scented oak and a thread of citrus acidity. 2017-22.
