This seductive blend of Southern Rhône varieties has a perfumed nose of violets, spice and purple fruit. The medium to full bodied, food-friendly palate is finely textured with firm but approachable tannins and a fresh, lingering finish.

The 2013 Kloof Street Red is a blend of 85% Syrah, 9% Carignan, 2% Mourvedre, 2% Cinsault and 2% Grenache sourced from six parcels cropped between 46 tons per hectare and raised in third and fourthfill French oak barrels and demimuids for 11 months. It has a lovely rounded bouquet with blackberry and mulberry fruit with just a dash of white pepper. The palate is mediumbodied – quite structured at the moment with crisp acidity, touches of bell pepper coming towards the rustic finish. This continues to serve as a great introduction to the delights of Swartland.
